YEAR 6

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to all Year 6’s and Parents for the 2020 school year.

Everyone is enjoying being back with their old friends or meeting up with new friends here at Sirius College, Shepparton.

Year 6 is a busy time and it will go very fast as the students are occupied with school commitments and responsibilities. Students are eagerly meeting the challenges presented to them at this stage and we will encourage them all to move forward with their choices.

It should be a good year as we become involved in lots of activities.

How best can you as the parent help your child’s technology use?

Enforcing strict usage around technology usage isn’t a solution.

Help your child create their own boundaries. The goal is to get them to understand why their screen time should be limited. The more you make decisions with them, as opposed to for them, the more they may be willing to listen to your guidance.

Give your child ‘more free time’ to have in-person interactions with others of their own age. This will help them find the connections they might otherwise look for online or through social media.

These are just a few ideas that may make life a lot easier for both you and your child as they work towards a life balance.
